Got a call for a 'haunted' dryer in a house near the old mill road

The owner said it would start a full cycle on its own at 2 AM, no one near it. I checked the usual stuff, then found a tiny field mouse had built a nest in the control panel... its weight on the start button was enough to press it. Cleaned it out, put some steel wool in the vent hole, and it's been fine for a week now. Anyone else had an animal cause a weird fault like that?

My cousin works for an appliance repair company in Vermont. They had a call about an oven that kept turning its light on and off. Turns out a family of spiders was living inside the light switch, and their webs were shorting the contacts. It took them forever to figure that one out. Animals getting into electronics causes the strangest problems.

Animals getting into electronics" always sounded fake to me too, but that spider story is pretty convincing.

Animals getting into electronics" always sounded like a made up story to me. Like something from a cartoon. But that spider story is too weird to fake. I guess bugs really do crawl in there and mess things up. Changes how I look at every weird flickering light now.
