inHear me out: using hair oil before shampoo actually saved my dry ends
Bet that pre-wash oil traps the moisture in.

inAppreciation post: My kid said my art looked 'too clean' and it stuck with me
That "slippery, like from a store" line hits hard because it's so true. I think she's onto something with the thumbprints but it's funny, @the_john mentioned relic guitars which actually aren't the same thing. Relic jobs are fake wear, like grinding down the paint to make it look old. What your friend is doing is leaving evidence of the making process itself, not pretending it's been used for years. It's more like how some knifemakers leave the hammer marks on a blade so you can see it was forged, not just ground out of a flat piece of steel. That's way more honest than fake scratches and dents. The guitar analogy is close but it's really about celebrating the making, not faking the aging.

inWoke up to my foundation cracking overnight after 8 years of ignoring that one leaky pipe
My buddy Mike had this exact issue last year @jasonc50. He found a wet spot behind his bathroom vanity and thought it was no big deal. Turned out to be a slow drip from a supply line that had been going for months. His insurance straight up denied the claim because they said it was "gradual damage" not a sudden event. He ended up paying $2,800 out of pocket for the rot repair and new flooring. The contractor said if he'd caught it sooner it would've been maybe half that. Worth checking your policy before you fork over cash.

inMy buddy swore by dipping Doritos in cream cheese and I laughed at him until I tried it last night
Oh man, that ketchup and chips combo is genuinely underrated... I've been doing it since I was a kid and people always look at me weird until they try it. Speaking of dips, I tried ranch mixed with a little sriracha on sour cream and onion chips last week and couldn't stop grabbing handfuls out of the bag.

inA customer's simple fix saved me from a full motherboard swap
That "standoff" line reminds me of a time I spent three hours swapping RAM sticks before realizing I just hadn't fully seated the power cable. Sometimes the simplest things make you feel like a total rookie.
