Honestly, everyone says to seal your flagstone patio right away, but waiting a full year for the mortar to fully cure made a huge difference in how the sealer held up.

I sealed my new patio in the North Valley after 12 months instead of the usual 6 weeks, and the sealer hasn't peeled or yellowed at all after two Albuquerque summers, so what's the rush everyone talks about?

But waiting a year just seems like a huge hassle.

That North Valley sun must bake it solid first.

You're right about that North Valley sun baking things solid, cole_lee. I've seen cracked earth out there you could literally lose a shoe in. It gets so hard and dry that nothing short of a pickaxe would make a dent.
