PSA: I spent $200 on a 'complete' digital comic collection that was just pirated scans

I saw an ad for a huge digital bundle of a classic X-Men run, over 100 issues for a flat price. It looked legit, so I paid for it. Turns out the files were just low quality scans from sketchy websites, and the seller vanished after the sale. I'm out the cash and the files are basically unreadable. Has anyone found a good, honest place to buy old comics digitally?

Serious question, do people not check their electrode ovens anymore?

I was on a turnaround in Gary, and I saw a guy grab a fresh pack of 7018 right out of the delivery box without letting it sit in the oven. He said his welds 'looked fine' last week, but I could see the moisture issues in the slag as he worked. How many of you still bake your rods before a critical weld?

Pro tip: My friend's kid just got scammed out of his Fortnite account because of a simple mistake.

We were at a barbecue last month and his 12-year-old was really upset. He said he got a direct message on Discord offering free V-Bucks if he logged in through a link. He clicked it, typed his info, and his account was gone in minutes. The guy running the grill, who works in IT, just shook his head and said, 'Never, ever click a login link someone sends you. Always go to the real site yourself.' It was such a basic thing, but seeing it happen to a real kid made it stick. Has anyone else had to help someone recover from a phishing scam like that?

Had to reline a firebox on a job in Tacoma last week and the foreman insisted we use it. The stuff handled 2300 degrees without a single hot spot, which my old go-to material definitely would have shown. Anyone else run into a material that made you change your mind?

TIL a good cable housing cut can make a huge difference

I swapped out the old, frayed housing on a customer's commuter bike yesterday. The new stuff I cut with my Park Tool CN-10 cutter, and the shift feel went from mushy to crisp in one ride. Anyone else notice how much a clean cut matters more than the housing brand sometimes?

Honestly shocked my little food truck hit 500 orders this month

Tbh, I was just hoping to make rent when I started the 'Yellow City Brisket' truck last fall. I checked my Square dashboard yesterday and the number was 503. That's a solid jump from the 300 we were doing just a few months back. It really hit me that word of mouth from the Route 66 car show crowd is actually working. Has anyone else seen a sudden bump from a specific event or area in town?

Choosing between a full reimage and a targeted repair for a stubborn malware case

Had a client last week with a machine so bogged down by adware it was barely usable. The choice was spending maybe 4 hours on a deep, targeted cleanup or just doing a fresh Windows install from our USB drive. I went with the full reimage to be absolutely sure, and it took about 90 minutes start to finish. The client was happy with the speed, but I'm wondering if I should have tried the longer fix to save their files and settings. What's your usual cutoff point for deciding to just wipe and reload?
