Had a whole tray of propagated pothos cuttings rot on me last month

I was at my kitchen table in Portland checking on the jar and saw the stems had turned brown and mushy from sitting in stagnant water too long. Now I change the water every 3 days with a drop of hydrogen peroxide - anyone else switch to a different propagation method after a similar fail?

Stop changing the water so much, that might be your real problem. Pothos are tough plants that can handle a bit of stagnant water as long as you don't overdo it with the peroxide. I've let cuttings sit in the same jar for over a week with no rot at all, just top it off when it gets low. The key is making sure the stems are suspended above the water line with only the nodes submerged. That hydrogen peroxide could actually stress the roots if you're using too much, it's basically a chemical burn waiting to happen. Your cuttings probably rotted because the stems were sitting in too deep water, not because it was old. Try a narrower jar or just lower the water level next time instead of messing with additives.

Actually the peroxide can be helpful if it's diluted right, like a capful per cup of water to add oxygen. Were you measuring it out or just eyeballing it?
