inStarted pre-trip river crossing checks after a scare
Remember almost losing a boot in what looked like a calm, shallow creek. The bottom was pure silt that just swallowed my foot whole. It taught me that clear water can lie about how solid the ground underneath really is. Now I look for ripples that might mean rocks, and avoid places where the water looks glassy and still over a dark bottom.

inPropagating corals in my tank, and the glue vs. tie method argument is fierce.
Wait, gotta disagree here. Sam's onto something with the feeding issue, because I've seen glue kinda smother the coral base over time. Sure it's faster, but watching a frag struggle for months isn't worth saving five minutes. Tying might feel like overkill, but it gives the coral room to grow naturally without that chemical barrier. Slow and steady wins with reefs, even if it tests your patience.

inBottling kombucha today had me thinking about old times
My first scoby came from a neighbor in Portland seven years ago. We used a big soup pot and just left it on the counter until it tasted right, but now I have a whole fermentation station with airlocks. That familiar tangy smell still gives me the same happy buzz from those early experiments!

inVent: My spa's laundry service ruined another batch of towels
Maybe the soap isn't the real problem. Those clinic towels get beat up fast, so just buy new ones.
