Funny enough @angela_carter, I used to think that didn't matter at all until I tried it.

@schmidt.grace's buddy Gary sounds like a real hero, honestly. Spent three weekends planning a bookshelf then just banged it out in an afternoon. I once spent a whole Saturday measuring my kitchen for a spice rack, watched like five videos on joining wood, and then realized I didn't even buy the right wood. Ended up using scrap lumber I found in the alley behind my place and it still turned out fine. Maybe it's just me but I think we all have that one project where we realize we're just overthinking everything.

Kinda reminds me of this old pair of earbuds I had back in college. They worked fine for like three years, then one day the left side just started crackling anytime I moved my head. Tried everything short of soldering them back together, but nope, they were just done. Sometimes things just give up the ghost.

So does that mean you think the newer stuff is just a downgrade across the board, or are we just getting set in our ways? I see guys all the time who swear by their old tools but won't even try a nice cordless drill with a torque setting. Isn't that just leaving a lot of speed and convenience on the table?
