I figured keeping elbows high helps front squats, but a gym regular said to drop them. Now I do, and it's better.

Honestly I still keep my elbows up high on front squats. That whole "drop them" advice made my wrists hurt and my chest cave in. Maybe it works for some bodies, but for me it messed up the whole groove. High elbows keep my torso upright and the bar locked in place. I'd say stick with what feels strong and stable for you.

Yeah when people told me to drop my elbows it totally made "my chest cave in" too. I fixed it by using lifting straps looped around the bar (takes the wrist bend out completely). Lets me keep my elbows up where they need to be without the joint pain.

My gym buddy swears by high elbows too... seems like a lot of fuss over a few inches.
