Yeah totally, there's something about the depth you get from basic pigments that just doesn't come in a tube. Once you start mixing your own, the pre-made stuff just looks kinda... dead. Like all the subtle shifts are gone.

You hit the nail on the head. Once you see that handmade color range, the flatness of tube paint really stands out.
