Had to choose between a new anvil or a better forge for my truck setup.

Went with the NC Tools anvil, cost me $800. My old forge still works but shaping shoes takes twice as long now. Anyone else face a gear upgrade choice like that?

Yeah, been there. That NC anvil is solid, you won't regret it. But the slow forge is gonna burn you out fast, it eats up all your profit when you're fighting the heat. I ran my old one into the ground until a good used propane forge popped up for half price. Keep an eye out, you can find a decent upgrade without dropping another grand right now.

Remember when we all argued about buying the good vise first?

Tough call on the anvil over the forge. I get it, a good anvil is a forever buy. But man, if your old forge is making shoe work take twice as long, that's a real hit to your day. It's like having a fast hammer but a slow fire. You might end up saving for that forge upgrade sooner than you think, just to get your time back.
