I used to be fine with the self-checkout at the Target on Maple Street

Then last Tuesday, the machine flagged my reusable bag as 'unexpected item' for the third time and a very tired employee named Carlos had to come over and clear it. I realized I was spending more time waiting for help than I would have just using a regular line. Now I avoid them unless I have literally two things. Anyone else just done with the self-checkout hassle?

Honestly, the worst part is how they're designed to make you feel guilty. That "unexpected item" message isn't for the machine, it's for you. It's there to make you second-guess yourself so you won't try to "cheat" the system. It turns a simple task into a test you're constantly failing.
