My aunt told me to just lie on my resume. That backfired hard.

My aunt Carol said everyone fudges their resume a little and I should too. So I claimed I knew Excel macros for a data entry job at a logistics firm in Phoenix. First week on the job, my boss asked me to build a macro and I froze. I got let go after 3 days. Has anyone else had bad advice from family blow up in their face?
