That 2019 study about double cleansing changed my mind
I always thought double cleansing was just a gimmick to sell more products. Then I read a study from the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2019 that tested 50 people over 6 weeks and found actual measurable improvement in sebum levels and pore appearance. I still think some brands push it too hard, but the numbers from that trial made me reconsider. Has anyone else run across research that flipped your opinion on a standard treatment?

Double cleansing is ACTUALLY backed by real data, not just influencer hype. That study shut my skeptic mouth real quick.

Oh wait, hold on. I gotta push back a little on that. I saw that study too and it's solid for people who wear heavy makeup or sunscreen, but the data was mostly on people with oily or combo skin types. If you're dry or sensitive, double cleansing every day can actually strip your barrier more than it helps. Like that study had a small sample size of dry skin folks and the results weren't as clear for them. So its backed for certain skin types but not everyone.
