That guy at the meetup told me to stop pitching at events
Went to a networking breakfast in Phoenix last Tuesday and this older guy named Rick pulled me aside. He said I was wasting my time pitching my startup to every single person in the room. Instead he told me to just ask people about their biggest problem and listen for 10 minutes. Tried it at the next two events and got three solid referrals from people who actually remembered me. Has anyone else had luck with that approach or is it just a Phoenix thing?

Tbh Rick was right. Listening actually works way better than pitching.
