Chose a local networking group over a big online platform and it paid off fast

I had to decide between a $200 annual online entrepreneur network or a free local meetup in Austin. I picked the local group, and within 3 weeks I got a referral that landed me a $1,200 project. Has anyone else had better luck with in-person connections over digital ones?

Had a similar thing happen at a Tuesday morning coffee meetup in Denver. Six people showed up, one of them owned a small bakery chain and needed a website refresh. Three days later I had a $900 deposit in my account. Online groups just turn into noise after a while, too many people trying to sell you something instead of actually talking.

Man, I gotta push back a little here. Online groups worked way better for me honestly, I joined a niche Slack group for web devs and got three leads in my first month from people I never met in person. The local meetups I tried were full of people just handing out cards and not actually listening, at least online I can lurk and jump in when I got something useful to say.
