Rant: I was rewatching 'The OA' for the fifth time and finally got the ending

I always thought the cancellation was just about ratings, but a podcast interview with the creators last week revealed the network axed a planned 3-season arc. Anyone else have a show where learning the real plans made the early ending hurt even more?
