Just realized I still get mad about 'The OA' getting cut after two seasons

I mean, I used to just watch a show, enjoy it, and move on if it got canceled. But after 'The OA' got the axe in 2019, it hit different. I got so into the whole puzzle of it, the movements, the different dimensions. I had a whole notebook of theories about where Prairie and Hap were going next. Now, when I start a new show, I check if it's already been renewed for more seasons before I even get invested. It's kind of sad, but I got burned bad. I really wanted to see that third season where they were supposedly on a movie set. Has anyone else had a show ruin them like that, where you just can't trust networks anymore?

Trust issues started with that cliffhanger.

Yeah, I had to stop letting myself get that deep into a story unless it was already done... like a finished book series. Now I only watch shows that have a full ending, or I wait until the last season is out. It's the only way to protect my own peace of mind, you know?

Oh that's a hot take and I gotta push back a little. See, half the fun for me is the mystery of not knowing where something is going. Getting invested in a show that might not finish is actually part of the ride. The OA's cancellation stung, sure, but I'd rather have those two wild seasons with all their unanswered questions than never have watched it at all. Networks are businesses, they're gonna do what they're gonna do, but I'm not gonna let that stop me from jumping into something cool and weird. Maybe it's a glass half full thing, but I'd rather get burned again chasing that high than stick to safe, finished shows that everyone already knows the ending to.
