Had to pick between finishing Firefly or giving up on it... I went with the movie version
Back in 2018 I finally started watching Firefly knowing it got cancelled after one season. I had two choices: watch the 14 episodes then Serenity the movie, or save the movie for later if I wanted more. I watched the movie right after the finale and honestly it felt rushed. Joss Whedon crammed like 2 seasons of plot into 2 hours and some characters barely got screen time. I wish the show had gotten a proper season 2 instead. Would have been cool to see more of Shepherd Book's backstory and what happened with the Alliance after Miranda. Has anyone else gone through the show and movie back to back and felt the same?

Same thing happened to me, the movie tried to do too much and it just didn't land right.

It's almost like we expect everything to be a perfectly packaged little story, but real life just has too many loose ends. I see it all the time with people trying to plan a weekend trip, they cram in five different activities and then complain it wasn't relaxing. Maybe we've all gotten used to that fast-paced social media version of things where everything has a clean punchline, but a movie or a vacation just can't work that way.
