Finally got the call to fix that weird noise in the downtown bank's express lift
The building manager gave me a choice: try to adjust the existing guide shoe rollers or just swap the whole assembly for new ones. I went with the full swap, even though it took an extra hour. Used a set of Kone rollers I had in the truck and the grinding sound is totally gone now. Anyone else lean towards a full replacement on older Otis units when you hear that specific high-pitch squeal?

Full swap is the only way on those old units. The extra hour saves you a callback next week.
