Serious question, did you all know a single sheet of 5/8 drywall weighs over 70 pounds?
I was loading up at the yard in Sacramento last Tuesday and the guy told me a 4x12 sheet of 5/8 comes in around 105 pounds, which is 30 more than I guessed. I have been hauling those things up stairs by myself for 7 years and now my back finally makes sense. How are you all handling these on solo jobs, dolly, lift, or just gritting your teeth?
Did you ever notice how we just accept the number some guy at the yard throws at us without ever checking it ourselves? Same thing happens with bags of concrete, sheets of plywood, bundles of shingles. We guess, we grunt, we move on, and then ten years later something in our body is screaming at us and we still can't say exactly why. You probably would have changed how you lifted years ago if you had known the real weight from day one. That's the part that gets me, the info was always out there, we just never asked.
