My neighbor said to use a 6-inch knife for taping corners, but it was a mess
He swore by his old 6-inch knife for inside corners on a job I did in Springfield last month, so I gave it a shot. The mud was all over the place and I had to redo both corners with my 5-inch, which went way smoother. Do you all stick to a certain size for corners or is it just a feel thing?

Hey, ever see someone try to use a putty knife for corners? My buddy grabbed one from his car kit on a quick patch job, said it was fine. It dug in and left these awful ridges in every inside corner, took forever to sand out. He just uses his 4-inch now and won't touch anything else.

Your buddy's 4-inch is probably just what he's used to. A 6-inch gives you a longer, flatter surface that can actually help you get a smoother line if you know how to handle it. Maybe he just needed a lighter touch with the mud.

Yeah but that "lighter touch" thing is tricky. I mean idk, I've seen more people mess up with a 6-inch because it's harder to keep even pressure. Maybe it's just me but a 4-inch feels way more forgiving.
