Had to replace my truck's water pump on the side of I-75 last week

I was driving back from a job site near Chattanooga when I heard this awful grinding noise under the hood. Pulled over and saw coolant leaking everywhere, the temp gauge was pegged in the red. I had a basic tool kit in the bed but nothing special, so I called my buddy to bring me a new pump and some wrenches. Took about 3 hours in the rain to swap it out, but I got it done. There's something about fixing your own stuff on the side of a highway that makes you feel like you earned it. Has anyone else had a vehicle let them down at the worst possible time?

Time and pressure really do make those repairs more memorable. Fixing a water pump on a highway in the rain is a whole different level of commitment than doing it in your driveway. Definitely a story worth retelling whenever someone complains about a simple fix.
