inPro tip: I stopped trusting my tape measure for final cuts after a bad trim job in a 1920s house.
So did you start measuring twice then, or what?

inThat $200 'heavy duty' cutter bar I bought online bent on the second job
Saw a thread on another forum last week where a guy tested one of those bars from the same site and the metal was way softer than what they advertised. He cut a sample and compared it to a name brand bar and the difference was obvious. I stick to local shops now even if it costs more because shipping back junk to these sketchy sites is a nightmare. Probably saved like $50 upfront but lost a whole weekend and maybe a client too.

inTried to save $50 patching a drywall hole myself and now I've got a hole big enough to throw a cat through
Oh man, that's rough. YouTube really makes stuff look way too easy sometimes. Solidarity from someone who's definitely been there.

inUsed to think microwaving leftovers was fine until I tried the stovetop method last month
Totally get it. I used to nuke leftover Chinese food and wonder why the fried rice came out like wet sand. Tried the skillet method with a splash of water and a lid, night and day difference now the rice is fluffy again. That little trick alone saved me from a lot of sad lunches at my desk. It's wild how one simple change can make you feel like you've been doing it wrong your whole life.

inOld machinist told me to stop chasing tenths on rough cuts
Yeah I actually tried something similar with my own setup a while back, @phoenix_adams60, and 0.005 ended up being way too tight for me lol. I found that 0.01 worked a lot better because it gave me a bit more room for error without messing up the whole thing. Might be worth testing a couple different values on a scrap piece first, just to see what feels right for your hands. Once you lock in the right number it makes the whole job go faster for sure.
