That time at Home Depot a contractor showed me I was using the wrong drywall knife.
I was grabbing some mud for a bathroom patch job and this old timer pointed at my 6-inch knife and said 'grab a 12-inch for finishing, you're adding hours of sanding.' First time I tried it I finished the whole room in two passes instead of six. Anyone else get handed a tool tip from a stranger that totally changed their workflow?

Man that 12-inch tip is gold. For me it was an old painter at Sherwin-Williams who told me to use a 5-in-1 tool instead of a putty knife for scraping. Cut my prep time in half on the next trim job.

Actually a 5-in-1 is a type of putty knife. But I get what you mean, they're way better.
