I've been using the wrong blade for cutting laminate flooring this whole time

I was installing some Pergo in my living room and kept getting these awful, chipped edges, no matter how slow I went. My brother, who's a contractor, stopped by, took one look at my 40-tooth framing blade on the miter saw, and just laughed. He told me to swap it for a 100-tooth crosscut blade, and the next piece came out perfectly clean. Anyone have a favorite brand for those fine-tooth blades, or is a generic one from the hardware store fine?

My neighbor ruined a whole box of oak flooring with his table saw blade.

Seriously? I've cut miles of laminate with a basic 40-tooth blade and it's fine. You just need a fresh sharp one, not some overpriced specialty blade. That chipping is probably from pushing the material too fast or having a dull blade, not the tooth count. A generic blade from the store works great if you know how to use your tools. Your brother's advice is overkill for a simple DIY job.
