I finally visited IKEA for the first time last weekend and their kitchen cabinet assembly instructions are worse than the furniture assembly ones

Spent 4 hours trying to figure out why a drawer rail wouldn't slide right, turned out the diagram skipped a step that would've saved half the time - has anyone else found IKEA's kitchen manuals way less clear than their regular stuff?

Hold on a second though, I actually think the kitchen manuals are the same format as the furniture ones, just with way more pieces and parts crammed into each drawing. The real problem is the furniture manuals are easier because they show you the whole piece in 3D, but the kitchen ones flatten everything out so you can't see how the parts actually fit together. Once I realized the kitchen diagrams are basically a different language it clicked, but yeah, they definitely need an extra step drawn in there.

Funny how companies make simple stuff harder than climbing a mountain with no map.

Yeah turning the diagrams sideways in my head was the game changer for me. I actually started tracing the finished picture with my finger first to understand the layering before trying to match the flat drawings. Worked way better than just jumping in blind like I did with my first set of cabinets.
