Cracked a cylinder head on a 6.0 Powerstroke outside El Paso last tuesday

Was hauling a trailer full of scrap and temps shot up to 240 before I caught it, ended up cracking the head between cylinders 3 and 4. Anyone else had luck with aftermarket heads holding up better than OEM on these trucks?

Man I hate hearing that. Cracked head between 3 and 4 is rough. Read somewhere that the aftermarket heads are actually a bit thicker in the web area between cylinders. Supposed to be tougher than OEM for that exact spot. A buddy of mine runs a shop in Phoenix and he swears by the KDD heads for the 6.0s. Says they hold up way better if you've got the truck tuned right. Look into those if you're gonna fix it.

Did that scrap include a old water heater? Mine blew up a pressure relief valve once and I had to chase a tumbleweed to get it back.
