Debating whether to swap my truck for a smaller car
Been driving an F-150 for 7 years but I'm barely hauling anything these days. I put 60 miles a day going to service calls in Chicago traffic though - would a compact hybrid actually hold up or am I asking for trouble? Anyone else downsize their vehicle and regret it?

Man, I actually did something similar a couple years back and it worked out way better than I expected. A compact hybrid should be fine for your daily drives since you're mostly doing highway miles and the fuel savings add up quick in stop-and-go traffic. Just make sure you get one with decent ground clearance if Chicago's potholes are as bad as I remember them being.

Totally agree with @elliotjenkins on the ground clearance thing, but here's another angle people forget - check the resale value on those compacts before you buy. Some hybrids hold their price way better than others and it can save you thousands if you decide to sell in a few years. Also make sure the battery warranty covers the full 10 years or whatever, since replacing those things is a BIG expense nobody talks about.
