Which side wins: the neighbor who blasts music at 2 AM or the one who leaves trash cans out for days?
Had a grumble last Tuesday when my upstairs neighbor started a drum solo at midnight, but then I remembered the guy across the hall who let his trash fester for two weeks last summer. Which daily nuisance bothers you more, noise or smell?

Would you rather have your sleep interrupted every night or feel like you can't open your windows for weeks on end? I'm leaning towards the music being the lesser evil, because at least you can call the cops or bang on the ceiling for that. Smell just kind of hangs around and gets into everything, you know? Plus with noise you can sometimes drown it out with headphones or a white noise machine, but there's no blocking out rotting garbage stink. Unless the music is so loud it physically makes your apartment shake, then I think both are equally terrible...

Yeah, "gets into everything" is way too real. I had a buddy who lived above a dumpster that only got emptied every two weeks in the summer. He said it wasn't even the full on rotting smell that got him, it was this weird sweet sickly undertone that clung to his clothes and curtains. He tried those plug in air fresheners and they just mixed with the stink to make this even nastier perfume. Ended up having to throw out a rug and a couch cushion because the smell wouldn't come out no matter what he tried. I'll take loud music and a good pair of earplugs any day over that nightmare.
