Pro tip: You don't need to preheat your oven for a full 20 minutes for most things.

Everyone says you have to wait for the beep, but I started checking with a cheap oven thermometer I got for $8. My oven hits 350 degrees in about 7 minutes, not 20. I've been baking cookies and roasting veggies for six months now just waiting for the temp, not the timer, and nothing's burned or come out wrong. It saves a bunch of time and energy. I think people just follow the box instructions without checking. My neighbor said I was 'risking the bake' but her muffins are always dry. Has anyone else actually tested their oven's preheat time?

I've had uneven results when I rush the preheat, so I still wait the full time.

Wait, your oven gets to 350 in just seven minutes? That's wild, mine takes forever. I'm with @bethj44 on getting weird results if I rush it, my last batch of biscuits was raw in the middle. Maybe my oven's just old and lies about the temperature.
