Am I the only one who can't stand when people call every old pickup truck a classic
I saw a beat up 1992 Ford Ranger with rusted out wheel wells at the gas station last week and some kid was taking photos of it like it was some museum piece, and I just don't get how a basic work truck that spent 20 years hauling fence posts qualifies as collectible, seriously when did the bar get so low?

Gotta ask though, does it really matter what some kid thinks about a rusty truck? Feels like folks are getting worked up over nothing when it's just someone finding joy in something you don't get.

Walk up to that same kid and ask him what he thinks about a 1978 F-150 with the big block 460 engine and no rust anywhere, he'll probably say it's "too old" or "not a real classic" because it doesn't have that Instagram-friendly patina look. That's the whole thing now, it's not about the truck being rare or well-preserved or having some cool history, it's about how it photographs for social media. A rusty work truck looks "authentic" and "lived in" to people who have never had to replace a floor pan with a sheet of plywood just to keep their feet dry. Meanwhile that 1992 Ranger you mentioned, yeah it's a dime a dozen but so were most of the muscle cars back in the day, nobody called a beat up Nova a classic until the prices shot up. Bet that kid would change his tune real fast if the Ranger had a V8 swapped in and some real horsepower under the hood.
