That 15-minute chat with my dad about his old router changed how I look at security
I was over at my parent's house last Saturday helping them set up their new TV and my dad mentioned he hadn't updated his router firmware since 2018 because 'it still works fine.' He showed me the admin panel and there were like 15 security patches waiting to be installed, which is scary since he does all his banking on that network. How often do you all actually check your router for firmware updates, or is it just me who ignored it for way too long?

The last time I checked my router, I found out it had been running the same firmware since 2016... pretty sure I was still using Internet Explorer back then. My neighbor actually asked me if my Wi-Fi was secure and I laughed because I had the default password still on there. Honestly, the only reason I update now is because my brother-in-law is a IT guy and he guilt tripped me into it.

Same here, I found out mine hadn't been updated since 2017 and just sat there feeling stupid for a solid minute.
