Used to set up on the wrong side of the load for 8 years till a guy named Al corrected me
I was working a job out in Newark last month, setting up for a steel beam lift. This old timer Al walks over, chews me out for about 2 minutes straight. He said I was putting the crane on the side that would make the boom flex way too much for the weight. I always just went by what felt right, no real method. Al showed me how he reads the site plan and the wind direction before he even picks a spot. Now I check every single time. Has anyone else had a random pro just change how you work out of nowhere?

Al's one of those guys who keeps the rest of us from folding steel like origami.

First time I saw Al work I actually doubted his methods, but now I realize he's the real deal.
