Tried a new lift plan for a tight spot in Boston and it actually worked

We had to get a 12-ton HVAC unit onto a roof with only 15 feet of clearance from the building next door. My foreman suggested we swing the boom at 85 degrees instead of our usual 70 and use a tagline from the street below. I was sure we'd need a second crane, but the whole thing went up smooth in one lift. Anyone else have a go-to trick for super tight urban picks?

Sounds like a normal Tuesday in Boston.

Honestly, the real trick is the guy on the tagline. You can have the perfect angle, but if your signal person isn't reading the wind off the river and the swing just right, you're toast. I saw a pick in the North End where the tagline guy caught a gust and walked the unit over a chimney like it was nothing. That's the magic no lift plan can write down.
