My mentor said to never use a razor comb on wet hair, I finally learned why.
She warned me for months, said it would cause 'feathering' and split ends. I figured it was just her old school way, so I tried it on a client with thick, damp hair last week. It looked okay at first, but she came back two days later with the ends absolutely shredded. Now I'm out a $50 refund and a regular. Anyone have a better method for detangling super thick hair before a cut?

I read one of those industry blogs that said the friction from razor combs on wet hair basically micro-tears the cuticle, which explains why it looked fine at first. Maybe try a wide-tooth comb with some detangler spray instead.
