Hate to push back but I gotta disagree here. Glass crocks breathe better than plastic buckets and that matters for fermenting cabbage. The weight of the glass and the natural airflow helps keep the bad bacteria away without you having to burp it constantly. I tried a bucket once and my kraut got this weird rubbery texture and a faint plastic taste that never went away. Did you notice any off flavors after a few weeks in the bucket or was it just me?

Oh man, I kinda see it differently @david_hayes. Calling something a hidden gem just because it just hit your radar is annoying, sure, but give the guy a little credit. He's excited and just discovering it fresh. We've all been that person at some point with some comic or movie we found years late. I remember freaking out about Invincible to a buddy back in 2015 and he rolled his eyes because it was already on issue 100. The real problem is when someone acts like they're the only one who knows about it, not just that they found it late.

and yeah that's exactly what happened to me lmao i thought i was going crazy but my cheese literally tasted like i'd been storing it in a candle shop. i think the heat from my lunch bag made the wax melt a little and it just absorbed right into everything, especially anything with fat in it like peanut butter or cheese. i tried washing mine with cold water and soap to see if that helped but honestly it just made them smell like wet beeswax, which is somehow worse. pretty sure the whole "reusable" thing is just a scam to make us all smell like a farmers market.
