Swapped from aluminum to carbon arrows last fall after a bad shot in the woods

I used to think aluminum arrows were fine for bowhunting because they were cheap and straight. Then I missed a clean shot on a buck near Flagstaff because my arrow bent slightly from a previous miss, and the deer bolted before I could nock another. A buddy at the range told me to try carbon Easton 5mms, and now I hit consistently at 40 yards. Has anyone else had a similar failure with aluminum arrows?

Driving home the point about arrow consistency, that bent aluminum theory is spot on. Once they take a hit, they're basically junk for anything beyond plinking at paper. Switching to carbon was like upgrading from a rusty shotgun to a rifle, the difference in grouping at 40 yards is just night and day. You might even find yourself pulling shots you'd have passed on before because you trust the arrow more.

Bad shot in the woods" reminds me of the time my bow rest broke mid-hunt lol.

Remember one time my release aid just gave out completely mid draw... arrow went straight into the dirt about five yards in front of me. Scared a whole family of deer off and I just stood there holding my bow feeling like an idiot. Freaking equipment failures always happen at the worst possible moments man.
