Had to decide between going down the flat earth rabbit hole or sticking with the moon landing stuff

My buddy kept pushing me to watch these long videos about how the earth is flat, saying the moon landing was old news. I gave in and spent about three hours last night watching one. It was all about how boats disappear over the horizon, but the arguments were so weak it hurt my brain. I went back to reading about the Apollo program because at least that has real photos and math. Does anyone else get tired of the really bad conspiracies that just waste your time?

Saw a flat earth video where they used a spirit level as proof.

I mean, you said the arguments were weak but that boat horizon thing actually made me stop and think. Maybe we're too quick to dismiss stuff just because it sounds crazy. Like what @richardknight said about the spirit level, that's a real world test you can do yourself, not just some old photo from a government agency. Sometimes the simple proof is right in front of us and we ignore it because it doesn't fit what we learned in school. Idk, maybe the moon landing stuff is a distraction from the bigger questions about what's really going on.

Ugh, the spirit level thing is such a bad example though. You can buy one and see it reads level because gravity pulls straight down toward the earth's center, not because the ground is flat. And the boat disappearing over the horizon is basic geometry, you can see it with binoculars as the hull goes first. Those videos always skip the simple fixes and jump to wild ideas. I'll take the Apollo math any day, you can actually run those numbers yourself.
