My uncle, a finisher for 40 years, told me to never pour a slab over 4 inches thick without a vibrator, and I learned that the hard way on a garage floor in Boise last month.

I skipped it to save an hour, and now there's a honeycomb patch the size of a dinner plate that I have to go back and fix for free. What's the smallest pour you guys will still break out the vibrator for?

Yeah, that "learned the hard way" part hits home. I vibrate anything over 2 inches now, even a small shed pad. For a sidewalk, I'll use a hand tamper, but for any real slab, the wand comes out. It's just not worth the call-back.
