Had a terrible Wednesday that turned into my best pour of the month

I was working a small patio in McKinney and the mix showed up 45 minutes late, already starting to set in the truck. Ended up having to work fast and skip my usual floating steps, but the homeowner actually liked the rougher finish better. Has anyone else had a bad start turn into something that worked out?

Wait, the mix was ALREADY SETTING by the time you got it? That's wild. I've had late materials before but nothing that aggressive. How fast were you moving to even get it in the forms before it completely hardened? That sounds like a nightmare scenario honestly. But it's crazy how sometimes the homeowner just loves whatever we end up hating. I had a driveway once where the color was way off from what they picked and they said it looked BETTER than the sample. Sometimes the chaos works out I guess.

Sometimes the concrete gods just smile on you... even when everything's going wrong. I was running so fast I almost tripped over the forms, just dumping and screaming for my guys to pull it flat. Customer ended up saying the rushed finish looked "authentic" or something... whatever pays the bill.
