Had to pick between the express bus and the local yesterday

I chose the express to save 15 minutes but it got stuck behind a broken down truck on the highway for 20, so the local would have been faster. Has anyone else gambled on a faster route and ended up late?

My buddy Dave tried to pull a fast one on a eBay auction for a rare video game last month. He waited until the last 5 seconds and threw in a lowball bid thinking nobody else would be watching. Turned out the seller had a buddy watching too and they sniped him back at the buzzer. Dave ended up paying $40 more than the game was worth because he got caught up in the excitement. He was so mad he almost threw his phone across the room. Now he double checks everything before he bids.
