Finally tried those reusable silicone food wraps after talking trash about them for a year

I was pretty skeptical about beeswax wraps and silicone lids replacing plastic wrap. My sister pushed me to try a set from a local zero waste store in Portland for like $25. After 3 months of using them on bowls and half-cut veggies, they actually seal better than I thought. The wraps last about 8 months before they need replacing, which is way less waste than a roll of plastic wrap every few weeks. What surprised me most was how well they worked on mason jars and oddly shaped containers. Has anyone else here made the switch and noticed a difference in your fridge food lasting longer?

Oh wait, I actually read somewhere that the beeswax ones can get kind of gross if you wash them in hot water because it melts the wax - is that true with the ones you got? I've been curious about trying them but I keep seeing conflicting stuff online. My roommate tried a set from some Etsy shop and said they lost their stickiness after like two washes, but maybe she just got a bad batch? The mason jar thing is interesting though, I always struggle with plastic wrap not staying on those weird jar threads.

Idk, I've had mine for like six months and they're fine. You just gotta use cold water to rinse them off, not like boiling hot sink water. Your roommate probably got a dud batch or used super hot water, the cheaper ones don't hold up as well.
