My dad's old Lincoln Logs are way better than my kid's magnetic tiles

He pulled them out of the attic last weekend and said 'these held up a whole playroom for 12 years, can your plastic ones do that?' and now I'm wondering if simpler toys really did teach us more about building.

Tbh your dad saying "can your plastic ones do that" is kind of brutal but also honestly kinda fair. Ngl I bet those Lincoln Logs survived actual wars in that playroom.

yeah those things were built different. my grandfather still has his from the 50s, the wood is still solid. @palmer.jana the real question is, did your dad ever actually try to build anything with the magnetic blocks or did he just talk trash from the couch? i'm betting he never even touched them. plastic stuff today is garbage but those lincoln logs were basically armor plated. bet the magnetic tiles wouldn't last a week if a toddler threw a tantrum near them.
