Got fooled by that $30 light-up flying fairy toy that was on every social media ad last year

I bought that dangling fairy thing that spins around and flies in circles for my niece's birthday and after three charges the plastic wings snapped off completely so who else got scammed by those viral flying toys they push on Instagram?

...and I was so excited to see that thing hovering around her room, but the battery barely lasted an hour before it started acting weird. Honestly, the only way I got my money's worth was by taking it apart and using the little motor for a craft project with my nephew. He liked it better as a broken toy he could tinker with than the actual flying thing. Those ads really know how to make garbage look magical on camera, don't they. I just try to remind myself now that if it's all over social media and costs like thirty bucks, there's a good chance it's not gonna last past the first few uses.

Wait, you actually took it apart? That's wild. I usually just chuck those things in a drawer and forget about them when they die on me. But honestly, that's kind of genius - repurposing the motor for something fun with the kid. Those cheap drones or whatever do look amazing in the videos, but it's all just plastic and weak batteries. The camera probably makes it look way more stable than it really is too, right? Did the motor at least have decent power for the craft project?
