Dropped $150 on a magnetic knife strip and it actually saves me time every shift
I bought a magnetic strip for my station knives after getting tired of digging through my roll during service at this steakhouse in Portland. It paid for itself in the first week just by not having to hunt for my chef's knife when tickets start flooding in. Anyone else switched to a magnetic setup or do you still trust the classic knife bag?

Wait, isn't $150 a lot for just a magnetic strip? I mean, you can get a decent one for like 30 bucks and it does the same thing.

Yeah I actually heard something about this on a podcast the other day. They were talking about how some of these pricier magnetic strips use a different kind of magnet material that doesn't lose its strength over time. The cheap ones can get weaker after a few months especially if you leave your keys in the sun or near heat. Plus the $150 ones sometimes have this coating that won't scratch your paint if you slide the strip across the car door by accident. Not saying everyone needs to spend that much @cameron_chen but there might be more to it than just holding up a key. Have you tried one of the cheap ones for a while or just looked at the price?
