Just spent 45 minutes waiting because of a price check on a $2 item

I was in line at the grocery store last night, just wanting to grab some milk and bread after work. The lady in front of me had a bag of potatoes that didn't have a price tag on it. The cashier called for a price check over the intercom and we all just stood there. 5 minutes turned into 10, then 20. Nobody showed up. Finally the manager came over after like 30 minutes and just made up a price on the spot. Why does it take half an hour for someone to walk to the produce section and look at a sign? I get that stuff needs to be checked sometimes, but damn. Has anyone else had a simple price check turn into a whole ordeal like that?

Bet that $2 potato would've cost way more without the manager double checking it.

I mean come ON, it's a TWO DOLLAR potato. Are we really acting like the manager needs a standing ovation for double checking a price on something that costs less than a candy bar? I get that grocery prices are crazy right now but let's keep some perspective here. The cashier probably just hit the wrong button and it was no big deal. People act like every single transaction at the store is some high stakes mission.
