TIL I was sanding plywood wrong for 5 years

An old timer in Denver watched me sand a cabinet face and said 'you're fighting the grain, not following it'. He showed me how much faster it goes with the direction of the wood instead of against it. Has anyone else had a basic technique click way later than it should have?

Cut crown molding backwards for years" - see that's wild to me @wadebailey because I bet your miters still looked better than half the new guys I see. The real trick nobody talks about is how the wall angle changes everything. Spring angle matters way more than people think.
