Dropped $200 on a 'premium' resume service and got zero callbacks for 3 months
I was stuck in a rut last year so I paid some online service $200 to rewrite my resume. They made it all fancy with buzzwords and a slick format but it was complete garbage for my field. After 3 months of silence I showed it to a buddy in HR and he laughed, said it screamed "written by someone who never did the job." Has anyone else wasted cash on these services or found one that actually worked?

You say "slick format" like that's a bad thing, but recruiters spend like 6 seconds on a resume and that polish is exactly what grabs their attention. The real issue is you didn't verify the writer knew your industry before handing over cash. Go with a service that lets you pick a writer from your actual field and you'll get way better results.

Wait, @fiona_clark, but isnt it also about making sure the writer doesnt just copy-paste buzzwords from LinkedIn?
