A customer in Dallas said my headbands were too tight and it changed my whole approach

I was selling some custom journals at a craft fair and a lady told me the headbands were so tight they were pulling the spine. Honestly, I'd been using the same 3mm cord for years and never thought about it. Has anyone else had feedback that made you switch up a basic material like that?

You said "headbands" but I think you mean the cord used in bookbinding. Tbh, that's usually called a headband when it's the decorative cloth at the top of a book spine. That small mix-up made your post a bit hard to follow at first. Just a heads up for the craft fair folks here.

Oh man, this is why craft terms get so messy. People use the same word for totally different parts of the process. It's not just headbands, I've seen "signature" confuse folks new to bookbinding too. We really need a clear glossary or something for these hobby forums. Saves everyone a headache trying to figure out what someone actually means.

Wait, is that why I got so confused reading bethj44's post too?
