Vent: My buddy insisted the 'Annihilation' movie was better than the book
He told me last month to skip Jeff VanderMeer's book and just watch the film. I finally read the book this week, and he was completely wrong. The book's weird, creeping dread is something the movie just can't capture with visuals alone. The whole 'Area X' feeling is totally different on the page. Anyone else think the book version of a story just hits different sometimes?

What did your friend say was better about the movie? I feel like the book builds this slow, quiet panic in your head that a film just can't do. The movie gave us cool visuals but lost all that internal weirdness from the biologist's journal. It's a totally different kind of scary.

Ugh, @diana155, that's just how ALL book movies go!
